Like Sue said, it is good to hear of your stress test and an echo exams. At least that is one problems that turned out good.

Also nice to hear you made it through your EEG. I have been through so many of them unable to fall asleep, but did fall a sleep once, back when I was little.

Hope everything turns out o.k. with the results, so you can get some answers. Keeps us up to date on the results you receive. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The doctor said my EEG was "completely normal" and tried to push depression and anxiety medication on me. I tried to explain to him about 12 different ways why I had adequate reason to believe something other than a mental illness was going on, and he refused to listen to me.

So I essentially fired him as my doctor, and I'm done with neurologists. I did unexpectedly come across an OBGYN the other day who said he was going to do everything he could to help me...not sure how much an OBGYN can do, but he wants to run some testing and refer me to some "friends of his," so we'll see where that takes me. Other than that, I have other things to spend money on than doctors who think they're God, so...that's where I stand.

I'm sorry things didn't work out well with the Dr. and the e.e.g. my advice to you is to start seeing an Epileptologist these Drs. specialize in epilepsy and will find out for sure if you are having sz. or some other medical problem and then they will find the cause of the problem and if needed put you on the least amount of meds to help you. I saw many different neuros. over the yrs. and only 1 of them has done as much work as my Epileptologist but then again he was in the medical practice for many yrs. today he would be in his
80's if not older. Go to an Epilepsy center and they will be able to help you out. Here's wishing you only the best of luck and May God Bless You!

I go to an incredible adult epilepsy center in the Center for Advanced Medicine of Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Every one of the neuros there is called neurologist .... not one goes by "epileptologist". So I don't worry much about titles.

Quick question: Does anyone know if theres's anything significant about "generalized slowing" on an EEG? I requested a copy of my EEG report and am kind of annoyed for two reasons. One because my jerk neurologist (who isn't my neurologist anymore; just officially "fired" him) wrote on there that I had a "history of anxiety." It's really difficult to get anyone to take your situation seriously after a doctor write down that you have a history of mental illness. Argh. Anyway, moreover, it says in the report that "generalized slowing" was observed during hyperventilation, which is not what my neurologist told me. He told me that my EEG was "completely normal." Even if it isn't a specific finding, it's still a finding, and it irks me that he just decided he didn't have to tell me at all.

I am a new member and on Dec 28th I had a seizure ever since then I have experienced motion sickness, random nausea, dizziness and migraine headaches. I had an EEG this afternoon and right after the light test I felt my left eye twitching followed by my head, arms and legs jerking. The lady who gave me the test asked if I could feel my body jerking. I felt like I did right after my seizure on the 28th, my brain felt scrambled as if someone had violently shook it. Throughout the remainder of my EEG I experienced my body jerking. I should mention that I am also being treated for PTSD. Has anyone experienced this before and is this a normal reaction?

Hi Timber,
Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you may have been having a sz. (seizure) during the e.e.g. with the jerking around. This will show up in the e.e.g. and also if this happened when the lights were flashing it will show that you are photosensitive meaning bright light or certain color lights will trigger sz. PTSD can sometimes trigger sz. for a person.

As I have told others have your family Dr. refer you to an Epileptologist and take vitamin B12 1000 mcg. once a day it will help calm the nerves and in some cases it reduces and stops sz. for people. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Thank you for your quick reply. I have been taking the B12 for about 7 weeks. During my EEG I could feel my head started shaking first followed by my arms and legs. I am pretty sure that I passed out for a few. I did not think I was shaking that bad. I was told different. During a seizure can you feel yourself having it and does your head start shaking first? Sorry for the questions, I just feel alone!

Often in the beginning of my sz. I can feel myself shake and then I blank out and I don't remember anything until the sz. is over. This may sound crazy but if you can feel the sz. starting up try and tighten up all the muscles in your body and make your hands into tight fists by doing this it can sometimes stop the sz. A neuro. I had back in the l970's taught me this and it has stopped many sz. for me over the yrs.

Also if you haven't been keeping track of your possible sz. get a calendar and write down what time of day/night the sz. happens along with a description of the sz. I make a little key up for myself since I don't have a l ot of room to right the details of my sz. on a calendar Ex. A- aura sz., B- absence sz. CP- complex partial sz., etc. If you keep track of your sz. your Dr. may see a pattern into what time of day/night the sz. happens. If I may ask are you taking any seizure meds now?
