Default Is this normal empathy?

I was working on empathy-building with my spouse. We were staring into each other's eyes. Neither of us used binaural beats today, and I haven't used them for more than a month. However, we have learned to identify different brainwaves as "theta" or "delta" based on how they feel as compared to binaural beats. I am not completely sure if these are correct identifications, but they are clearly different and they are elicited by binaural beats entitled with these names.

Anyway, my spouse had been angry recently, but had become sad and then calm, and was staring into my eyes with a pronounced "theta" that both of us felt (I picked up on it after staring).

Then, all of a sudden, the theta switched to a strong delta (My perception, as whatever my spouse feels, I feel too when staring into my spouse's eyes). A short moment later, my spouse's eyes closed. We spoke, and I learned that my spouse reported starting to dream, and wanting to sleep for good.

Of course, our eyes were not completely still when we were staring. They were kind of wiggling a little. I'm not sure if the minute wiggling of eyes was from microsaccades or physiological nystagmus.

My question for all of you is whether

1. Is it normal to pick up someone else's brainwaves empathetically?

2. Has it been established by psychologists or neurologists that our brainwaves communicated through microsaccades or physiological nystagmus? I mean, I've never read that is how it works, but that is sure how it feels.

Thanks for your help.
