Default Lemon air freshener

I have a lemon tree that is always smothered in lemons. It doesn't matter what time of the year I want lemons, I always have an abundance.

I have cooked many different desserts, cakes, puddings, slices. I have made lemonade and lemon jam/marmalade. I have frozen lemon cubes for later, and I have given away bags, and bags, and bags!

I'd like to know what else I could do with the lemons, but in particular, I would like a home made lemon air freshener if anyone could help me out.

I have a lemon tree, too. My favorite is lemon custard and lemon ice cubes in my glass of water.

For an air freshener, I occasionally put the lemon peels (smaller pieces are best) in a pot of water, bring it to a slight boil and then turn of the heat. The fragrant oils evaporate easily out of the lemon skins as the water cools. I love the lemon scent! There are probably better recipes out there, but the key is to use the lemon peels.

Thank you so much DesertFlower. I'd all but given up hope of getting a reply.

I do so love natural scents in my home. We have lots of lavender in the garden so I've been using that as a room freshener, but I thought I'd like the citrus smell of lemons for a change.

Thank you again. I'll definitely make some essence of lemon tomorrow.
