Toxic Drugs: When Medicine Makes You Sick - AARP The Ma...

I've done my share of some pharma drugs in my long life and do all I can to keep my meds to a minimum. I use a few and 95% supplements which helps supplement my aging body for what it needs..

Equally supplements can build up to toxic levels bringing about the same neurological and physiological symptoms as those described in the articles. eg Zinc, copper, B6, potassium etc

My COPD meds have all turned on me, pulmonologist sent me to ER this spring and told the doctor there was nothing to be done for me besides keep me comfortable. I later discovered it was a worsened sensitivity to inhaled steroids making my airways swell so my breathing deteriorated.

I'm fine now. If you are sensitive to meds be sure you stay on top of it because particularly if you have a chronic disease, they will tend to blame symptoms on disease process.

I hadn't read the entire article on the AARP message, but it's about a woman with MS and how she was over medicated and how the MS drugs were causing horrid issues. She had lost weight and I guess still taking the doses from her higher weight. Who knows it all.

I know my sister has declined so so badly with the bomardment of drugs she believed would stop the progression of her MS...she trusted her MS doctors. Every time my phone rings, I think it's about my sister, she's still alive but barely. I wonder how much the MS doctors emphasize nutrition and some supplements...I know she's very aware of Vit D but she confessed she was a sugarholic.

I hear some supps can cause some problems, I've never had any problems but years ago found St John's Wort caused high blood pressure...I was trying to get my thyroid supported from years of depression and tried everything as doctors were not helping me on the thyroid as my NUMBERS were good...it was my symptoms, not numbers.

Grape Seed Ex could really help manage the COPD.

Seven months ago I asked my PM doc if the medicine in my pain pump could be the root cause of my headaches. He said no way. Well, one week ago I demanded he change the medicine. I'm now 6 days straight without a headache. I hate doctors that won't listen to their patients.

You go David

Went to hospital for the first time in amost five years
Was short of breath
Winded
Pressure in center of chest and was spreading

I was treated like an addict

Upon going to hospital
Second dose of meds were due by 2:00
Told them I had just taken them about an hour ago
Two times asked if I needed anything for pain
When I clearly expressed I was covered
This after knowing the DX
I was impactacted for three days
In his condescending tone
Wanted to punch him when I expressed I was positive for
MTHFR mutation with one of the two varients
Brushed me off with that information
THEN PROCEEDS to explain my Dimer test was normal
(A test for clots something with the mutation is prone to)
So I am right there with you on the doctors today
A sad way to have to live
You are your only advocate
YOU GO!
Me

So so many have so many drug interaction issues. I've talked to some on another group that take up to 12-15 drugs daily. I take double that with my supplements.

I can't help but believe my sister has declined so from all the drugs she's been bombarded with. Tragic.

Hi Caroline,

I am sorry your sister is challenged with MS.

I am very sensitive to many substances, having many reactions to exposures.
This includes exposures to many meds as well as to many substances. I have frequent negative reactions to foods, to meds and to supplements.

I have a better shot at tolerating a med or supplement if/when formulation is as pure as possible.

Both tolerability and efficacy are important factors.
Neither approach guarantees tolerability and efficacy, sadly.

M.S. can be a devastating condition, as you know, even without any MS meds attempted. It could be very difficult to sort out the natural course of disease progression and effects of meds and/or supplements,

Are you, is your sister, aware of the research by Terry Wahls, MD?
Dr. Wahls had progressive MS and was told she was too progressed, was told nothing more could be done for her. She did not give up, continued her own research, eventually formulating "The Wahls Protocol." This protocol is formulated to maximize the efficiency of the mitochondria.

Many ppl try this "protocol" for the healing of many different conditions.
I have too many medical conditions. I do not have MS. I have been following the dietary part of the protocol, which has three levels. I have chosen the most strict level and feel much better than I did prior to adhering to the dietary protocol. I have many fewer bothersome symptoms, so far. I am not "healed" or "cured," yet I do feel less overwhelmed by negative symptoms.
It took my body 3 weeks to adjust to this level of dietary change, even though my diet was considered "healthy" before starting on this protocol.

I have some very strong negative reactions to foods, meds, supplements.
This approach is helping me in major ways.

Terry Wahls MD | Defeating Progressive Multiple Sclerosis without Drugs | MS Recovery | Food As Medicine | The official website of Terry Wahls, MD, author and physician who has recovered from secondary progressive multiple sclerosis by using the Wahls way-Food as medicine.

Hugs!

I don't seem to be able to tolerate the polyethylene glycol they put in meds as a filler or stabilizer or something. My doctor was kind enough to specify my blood pressure drug from a manufacturer who does not use it and it helps.
