Thanks for referring me to what looks to be a great thread. Perhaps I should have done a search before starting this one... patrick123 ...EDIT- Looks like a great deal of new info concerning Vit. D3 has become available since the time when that Vit. D thread was most active... Today, in particular, Coimbra's work is particularly interesting. Also, the Science at Grassroots Health is rather compelling...

Make sure to also take a calcium supplement at the same time, I'm taking TUM'S Extra Strength 1000mg 3x daily it helps to absorb vit D3, your vit D3 can be prescribed by your Doctor in 1/5/10/50 (ui) and are very affordable to buy...I take in 10's 4 times a week.

Lightbulb

Some cardiologists are suggesting that people taking high dose Vit D3, to not exceed 600mg of calcium daily. This warning is based on reports of hypercalcemia or calcium depositing in arteries.

This is because the Vit D increases absorption of calcium from food sources.

If you choose to use high dose calcium with vitamin D high dose, it is recommended to get blood tests for calcium periodically.

It is important to check the date of publication of studies or metastudies of supplements.

While this link is interesting, it was published in 2007.
It is still early days in regards to high dose Vit D3 and its combination with other supplements including Calcium.

Data on Vitamin D3 is still evolving.

Yes, checking the dates of studies is important. ..........Not only data on Vit. D, but data on most everything medical/scientific are evolving to some extent. I might add, we must not look at only one study, but many, not only at studies, but at all sources available. We are looking for trends... Very nearly all that I have read is consistent with the findings in this study.

Default Dr. Holick is a luminary in the field of Vit. D research.

Dr. Holick's work is extraordinary, likely of Nobel Laureate quality. ...Dr. Mercola Interviews Dr. Holick (Full Interview) - YouTube
