Default Medical marijuana

Hi all ...

I'm sure that this has been addressed before, but has anyone had experience with medical marijuana helping with freezing? My neuro thought it was mainly used for pain. I don't have any pain and my other two symptoms (slight tremor in my right hand, and weakness on my right side in general) were completely eliminated when I took a combination of Mirapex and Artane. I was actually on those two drugs for 11 years and my symptoms were SO controlled that my family actually second guessed whether I even had Parkinson's!! THEN it reared it's ugly head.

If anyone has experience with marijuana helping, please let me know. I see the neuro again on Thursday.

Thanks!

Medical marijuana as THC and CDB (legally prescribed here in Calif) has been wonderful in regulating my sleep patterns, but I haven't tried it during the day so I'm not sure what the benefit for freezing would be.

Default medical marijuana as a muscle relaxant?

Thanks for the info. I can't believe that there's not more people out there who are trying marijuana legally!

This is my line of thinking .... the marijuana would be sort of like taking a muscle relaxant and, if that's the case, maybe it would relax my muscles enough not to freeze so much. I know there's a direct correlation between how tired I am and my feet freezing, but other than that, I don't know what makes my feet freeze while my other symptoms are wonderfully controlled.

I don't know about you, but I never know what my feet are going to be like in the morning. Every day is different. Some days I walk great and on others I resort to crawling around in my apartment I'm so stiff.

I did read a post on this website that there is a direct correlation between being constipated and freezing so I'm going to keep my eye on that, first, before I try cannabis.

The way I look at it is I have nothing to lose by trying it. And, if I do try it, I'll let you know how it works.

Thanks, again ...

Default thanks!

Thanks, thanks, thanks!!! My neuro thinks it only works for pain. I'm suppose to make an appt. with someone in the practice who handles "alternative medicines". There's a six month waiting period but I'm not going anywhere soon so it's not a big deal. The way I look at it is the worst that can happen is it doesn't work. I have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

By the way, how old are you and at what age were you diagnosed?

Thanks again, you made my day!

High! hehehehehhe.....im 48 and I got my first tentative PD diagnosis at 33 but due to lack of early onset data this made my docs dubious at best so they labelled me with Parkinsonism at the time which became obvious PD over the years.....

Thumbs up thanks again!

Our stories are similar ... I was dx with PD at 44 and am currently 56. The first neuro refused to give me a dx and made my life a living hell. He had my ex-husband and four children thinking I "wanted" this dx. I couldn't take it any longer and finally made another appt. with the head of Baylor School of Medicine (in Texas) who did a 2 hour eval. He put me on Mirapex and Artane which totally controlled my symptoms for those 11 years. Now I'm back to square one.

I couldn't help but notice two things in your post. You live in Alaska and we both have quotes from Maya Angelou. My family lived in Norway for nearly six years with an oil company and I often joked with my ex that he didn't have to worry about infidelity because I wasn't staying!! When we got back, we were transferred to Oklahoma and then eventually Texas. After my divorce, I moved to Chicago and it's too far north already! Enjoy your summer. It's quickly coming to an end ...

Who can resist Maya Angelou!!!!........Norway! yikes...well were in the Japanese trade winds and get 13 feet of rain a year but little or no snow in this village..only in the mountains behind us........the temp ranges between about 37 F-65F throughout the year.....we picked this spot in part because of a lack of temp extremes as I cannot do heat or cold any longer.....

peace!

Didn't think of that ...
