Default Lidocaine Infusions

Hey everyone,

so in two weeks I am having my first lidocaine infusion. I am a little bit worried because I am renowned for my low tolerance of drugs. I am completely intolerant to opioids and suffer severe headaches and dizziness after anaesthetics and sedation.

My consultant has decided to send me for a full pre operative assessment because of this, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had any problems with them? Another consultant I saw at a specialist hospital last week didn't think I would even make it through the entire infusion because of side effects but Im trying to ignore that.

If you can't stand these types of products, then I'm not sure why they want to continue this?

There's a lot more that can be done for nerve pain (non-opioid treatment), but that's up to your doctors and not for us to start to discuss.

I am also intolerant of many drugs, but everyone is different. At least your consultant is sending you for a preoperative assessment. I wouldn't ignore what any of the consultants tell you. Your doctors and you have a big decision to make. Make sure you know how they will monitor you and what they can do to alleviate side effects. You also have to decide how much you are willing to tolerate from the drugs in return for pain relief. If you fear a life threatening reaction, you need to thoroughly discuss this with your doctors. These are not easy decisions. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
