Crazy

That's alot of weight to lose in such a short amount of time!!
Supplements!! (nag nag )

Do you have a 'therapy pool' (warm water) near you that you can walk around in and tread water.....excellent non-weightbearing excercises while you are losing the weight.
That has been a lifesaver for me as well. I have the bilateral piercing leg pain, so I know it's not fun to try and be active.....but the water thing......yes!

XXXXXXXX

I live so far out in the woods that yesteerday's daylight still hasn't hit the ground. I'm 21 miles to the nearest hosptial, 22 miles to the nearest PT provider. I try to stay active, but some days are better than others. Today I hav en't left the house, but tomorrow will probably over-do myself cleaning fence rows. It kills me not to be up and being productive. Have 3 boats and a 4 wheeler I need to be using. Just don't have any drive lately.

One thing I should really add since this is a pain pump forum. Pain pump meds literally eat testosterone. For a guy my age I should be up around 600-650. I kept getting so tired and listless. Even passed out in the back yard a couple of times. Napolean put me on Rodiola. A supplement from Amway that he sells on the side??????????????????????? Should have dropped him right then, but took 3 weeks of his $1 each pills without any benefit. Anyway, I was on line doing some searching and that's where I learned about the testosterone. So I had my PCM test me. I wasd down to 92!!! Have been on testosterone replacement therapy (shots) every month and things that weren't working are working just fine again! ;-)

Default Meds

Hey D'f and Rae-

I hear you all loud and clearly on the meds. I've taken up to 1800mg Lyrica daily but now on 3000mg Neurontin plus morphine every day. Boy am I sure weight has settled on me both due to the pain insprired inactivity and the meds themselves. Keeping in touch with your body and your pain doc pressing on the benefits and detriments of meds is part of that long history of dealing with pain you have already endured. Rae is full of info trying to get any of us who happen along into the most informative and beneficial threads. Look 'em up. On the weight loss... WOW, that is quite a record. Rae gives a good heads up on the use of a warm therapy pool as a means to try working hard to exercise and use that buoyancy to keep strain of weight off the back and knees while you work. My wife and I use one nearby us. It's a God send.

And about whether whining..... well..... seems to me no one whines when they come here. Instead, all of the folks I have encountered are just telling it like it is. Just the facts, man. We have all felt something however remote like the what you endure. So feel OK about letting it all hang. We are with you. For real.

You're OK D'f,
Best to you,
Mark56

Aww dang, D'f, I clicked submit and then saw your reply to Rae about how remote you are. Well, so forget the therapy pool gig. Even so, we have a treadmill which we also use. That works too, and you can crank up the speed and incline according to your then current abiltiy to take it.

Boats? Yeah, I wanna get out on the water, too. We have a 22' Cruiser cabin cruiser. We'd like to get on some water and see what the fish have to say....

Ahoy,

I've got a 24' center console with a Yamaha 250 HPDI. Red Snapper season opens down here next Tuesday. An old "war buddy" of mine is coming up from Central FL and we're gonna do our best to limit on snapper, grouper, kings and amberjacks for two days and send him home with a cooler full of fliletsand fish steaks. Will let you know how we do.

Cool I'm sittin here with a cheezy grin.....

....hearing you two talk 'guy' talk
Fumes, I sure hope you'll have a "low pain day" whilst chasing those fish!

And Mark, thanks for all the kind words, you've built my ego up a bit too high now I'm walking around with my head in the clouds thinking i'm just it!!

TESTOSERONE!!!! WOW!!
You know, that should actually warrant a whole new thread of discussion!!
Being female, I found out the hard (sick pun not intended) way that we gals ALSO need this hormone!! I had a hormone screen done (partly cuz I'm....."that" age...) but my levels were FLATlined ZERO!!

Part of the culprit was the thyroid issue, but as you probably know by now, most narcotic pain meds are notorious for depleting hormones!
It'd be awesome if you'd feel inclined to share more details about your pain pump experience, as you can see there is very little discussion on the PP here.....mostly SCS talk.
Feel free to start a whole new thread with Pain Pump insight.....hint hint...

Part of the reason for feeling so much better is simply because of lowering the pain meds......When I was able to titrate off the fentanyl patches, I felt better and better...........hormone production started working better without being hindered by the strong narcotic effect....

It's all such a huge circle of madness......pain leads to depression, which leads to more pain....and on....and on......and onnnnnnn
Similar to the argument of 'which comes first, the chicken or the egg'..?

It's gonna be exciting to be witness to your condition turning around 'Fumes'....I just KNOW it's gonna.
We saw it happen with Mark and I've got the same (good vibes) about YOU!!

Keep the Faith!

Rae

Default new post to old thread

Not sure why I am bothering to do this, since the thread is 6 years old. But just wanted to say --- I know exactly what you are experiencing, Fumes. I've had almost everything you describe over my 30 years of multiple fusions and PM. Hopefully you long ago recovered from your horrible surgery and PM experience. (I wouldn't be surprised if you're living off a huge malpractice suit) But undoubtedly you are still living with LBP. If there's anything I can add, 6 years later, that might help you, let me know.
