Default Phantom smells and sounds anyone?

On the subject of odd symptoms, anyone out there experience odors when there are none to smell? For me, usually it's an unpleasant smell, like overripe fruit, garbage, a skunk, etc., when there is none around. Or being extremely sensitive to unpleasant odors.

I also experience phantom sounds. Usually I can hear people talking when there is no one there. Again, this has been happening for a few years before my dx, and of course, has not stopped.

Just curious. I think I've seen something on here before about odors, but not about sound.

I hear "radio" talking sounds. If heat kicks on I hear it as voices. I was convinced one summer evening there were pool-hoppers in our pool, talking low. I don't believe me anymore.
No smells, but food sometimes doesn't taste good,

No to phantom sounds, but I know my hearing is much more sensitive than most people's. My dog and I are in synch in that regard.

Yes to phantom smells (at times) though. Mostly it's smoke/fire, sewage/diapers, and boiling beef bones (thought another Jeffery Dalmer moved in the neighborhood at one point ). Again my sense of smell is very keen, and I can smell things LONG before anyone else does, which is unusual for a smoker, I think.

Smells for me, the fruit and garbage I've had, also burning (like burning plastic) or smoke.

Yes and Yes! THe phantom sounds started when I was in my late 20's... now almost 50. It is like a faint radio in the next room... I can hear the beat, but can't make out the words.

Phantom smells started in my early 30's. At first it was just smoke, but now I smell skunk like smells at times. Also when I am near a vehicle that is burning oil... that burnt motor oil smell... I get chill bumps down my spine and on my scalp. ALso the left side of my face will start to go numb just from the smell.

weird stuff!

Smells not so much..But sounds..You mean other than the voices in my head? I hear radio sounds as well sometimes, or if I'm driving I hear music even though the radio's not on. This is odd, especially since I'm nearly deaf. It can be a little freaky sometimes, but mostly just entertaining. I must have some wires crossed somewhere..

This! And it's part of rationalizing the phantom smells for me now. I'm getting pretty decent at realizing what's a threat potentially, and what's not.

Heart I get this symptom a lot also

I don't have MS but do have a problem that is fairly similar in many ways.

I also get phantom smells. I am always convinced that I smell, even when I have just gotten out of the shower. I always ask my mum if I smell and she always say's that I doesn't but that never re-assures me. It's sort of like i've developed OCD or something similar!!

I can also smell gar exhaust fumes a lot. Even if I am just sat in the house, I can smell petrol and fuel sometimes. No-one else can smell it other than me. These symptoms only started when I fell ill ... I NEVER suffered from them beforehand!

I don't tend to hear strange noises a lot but sometimes I get a ringing or buzzing sound in my ears that is very frustrating and is a bit like Tinitus (sp?).

Thank you so much for posting this ... I always thought I was strange but now I know that others get this also! I'm sorry that you all have to deal with this strange symptom as I know how frustrating and annoying it can be!!

Noises can really get to me easily and I rode my scooter by a cafe at my doc's office today and it smelled awful to me. This has happened to me for years now.
