Lightbulb Viruses found in the human genome!

http://arstechnica.com/science/2016/...might-wake-up/

This is a very interesting article ... explaining ancient viruses that have been found in human DNA. These have been passed down thru us over many many years!

Thanks MrsD

Very interesting - I was just reading an article earlier this morning about epigenetics and the influence it can have on disease, immunology etc - now this - no wonder we're all screwed up!

Thanks mrsD.

I always find it sobering that so much (8% +) of the human genome is retroviral DNA, which is generally silenced through epigenetic effects.

I wonder whether epigenetic silencing of human genes is, for want of a better word, a byproduct of these epigenetic mechanisms.
