We went to a movie tonight!!!!! He had been wanting to go see the new Independence DAy movie but that isn't out anymore which I guess is good news since it will be cheaper when it does come out again. But we saw the new Star Trek movie. He was uncomfortable and kept moving around. It helps that all the seats in all of our theatres are the stadium seating and a bit more comfortable than the old fashioned seating. I am getting tired of drivin him. I just tell him that since I am the driver and I don't like to be cussed out that I can always turn around. We are completely different drivers, he is very agressive and I can sit and wait 5 minutes for traffic to clear. But he says I am wasting gas by sitting there! So I hope the doctor gives him his keys back Friday.

He went to the mall again today while I went to walgreens and got some Slow Fe for him. It was senior day at Walgreens and I got a certain % off, can't remember how much. Can't pass up a bargain. I did suggest physical therapy to him to try to build his tolerance up and he says no, he will do it on his own and so far he has gone out and walked daily. But he is so winded.

doydie,
Just being out of the hospital might have made things a bit more uncomfortable for him. The good part is he wants to try getting out. The not so good is you having to do the driving all the while knowing he is not too happy with the way you drive, etc.
Wasting gas.....hymmmm; ....tell him about the 20% you saved at Walgreens today more than covered the gas.
After we had lunch, we stopped at Walgreens today too. Great minds think alike.

Gerry

Wow!!! A night out on the town after everything he has been through! That's impressive. I'm sure he was uncomfortable!

He'll be driving soon enough and, as I've mentioned, you both will be back to a "new" normal routine.

Did they give DH a spirometer to take home and practice his breathing?

tkrik, I had to laugh at what you said. He now has 4 spirometers. next time we go to the hospital, I am taking one with me. He had one ordered when he had meningitis, his ileostomy, his gall bladder and now the abscess. I wish he did better at it thoug. He does worse now than when he had his meningitis and he was half out of his mind.

Well, he has enough for at least 4 rooms in your house - by his recliner, the kitchen, his bedroom, and the bathroom. Plenty of opportunity for him to use them. I still have mine but I don't use it. I really should as they are helpful exercises.

doydie,

How is Charlie feeling; attitude, pain, frustration, etc.

Also, How are you doing? Did Charlie get the okay to drive or are you still the driver??

Gerry, Charlie is doing oK. He still is a little paranoid about healing and checks his temperature several times a day. He has yet to take a shower, still sponge baths. His incisions really need a good shower. He tolerates me driving. He does have his keys back next Tuesday and we are counting down the days. I don't know if you saw in other thread but I more than likely will need a cardiac catheterization and stent. Seems like the chest pains I had the 2nd time he was in the hospital could have been real and I should have taken myself to the ER. I see the doctor on Tuesday at 7:45. I told him that would be his first chance to drive. He declined. it's to early in the morning. True love huh.

Well it seems; Charlie is Charlie. You said he is a bit stubborn (I think his wife/nurse really spoiled him).

I just tried looking for the Cardiac catheterization/stent thread but don't seem to find it. You just never know when you should or feel silly going to the ER. Better safe than sorry. It appears you really have had a "warning". Glad you are seeing the doctor.
doydie needs to take care of doydie. I hear you on the "true love".....

doydie,

On another thread you made mention of Charlie cleaning his bag. Has he ventured into changing it yet?? Hopefully his incision is healing pretty well and is now enjoying showering.

No, Charlie has not changed his bag yet. He gets everything ready for me and he knows that he might one day have an emergency where he has to do it. He does at least looked interested and talk to me while I am changing it. Before he just laid there with his eyes looking like he was going to sleep. Baby steps???
