Default PCS following Fourth Concussion

Hello everyone,

I posted a couple of weeks ago regarding my fourth concussion that I sustained while playing college hockey. I would love to gather some advice from others who have experienced PCS and the effects that linger around after.

It has been just over three months and I feel as if some days I am better, and some days I am getting worse. After taking a cross check, my neck snapped back and I knew it was another concussion. I have been resting as much as possible, and the neurologist I saw three weeks ago told me that I could start doing Physical Therapy. He thinks the hit may have caused a neck injury, as I feel headaches in the back of my head. I started taking 25mg of Zoloft 6 weeks ago, and it has not worked. I am no taking 15mg rendering to help calm my anxiety. What does everyone think of medicine and the road to recovery? I have never been obsessed with taking drugs, but I am feeling pretty desperate right now and it really scares me.

Also, my neurologist mentioned that my anxiety and stress could cause more tension headaches. Does everyone agree with this? Please let me know, and God bless!

Gentle neck therapy would be worthwhile. Anxiety can be a big cause of headaches and other symptoms. The meds may help with the anxiety but nothing more. They are not a PCS treatment. I've never heard anybody mention Mertazapine (Remeron) for anti-anxiety/anti-depressant. Don't know what you should expect.

The sense of not feeling right can be a big cause of anxiety. The PCS makes the brain's anxiety system super sensitive.

Try to relax and be patient. Fighting through will slow your recovery.
