Assuming that you have had the benefit of an MRI and sound clinical examination, yes your symptoms can change just as the dynamics of your condition can change. I am not sure that a discogram is indicated if your doc feels that your left-sided symptoms are also originating at the same neurological level. Discograms are not without significant risks. If that is the case, progressing with the original surgery might make sense otherwise if clinically your new left-sided findings seem to be coming from a different neurological level, I can't imagine your surgeon proceeding with surgery without new MRI in light of your change of symptoms?
