Default Hello and any help or guidance appreciated

I found this group by accident trying to find information for my better half who recently had an hypoxic anoxic brain injury that took all their short term memory It has been 4 months since the injury and even though they know who I am they can not remember previous days events or things that have happened in the past which includes that last 10+ years depending on events.

During all the testing and dr's visit it was determined my better half has sleep apnea...I had no clue previous to this event. My better half is now using a CPAP machine nightly.

We have been to different neurologists trying to figure out what happened and when or if they would get their short term memory back. Sadly after some neuropsych testing it was determined my better half has dementia at the young age of 59

My better half will never go back to work since they can not recall previous days events or conversations. Luckily there is STD & LTD in place and currently State Disability Insurance is being paid bi weekly.

I am very worried trying to do all the dr's appts, paperwork, daily living/household issues and just trying to keep this boat afloat. I know at some point I will have to help them apply for SSDI and worry if Dementia is an automatic acceptance to SSDI or will there be a long drawn out ordeal? I have been reading the Social Security thread but I know each case is very different. I am so scared and do not know why our future holds....

Thank you all for taking the time to read my concerns and give me any help that might ease my mind. I am sure I did not give enough or all the right information but I will learn as I go forward at this site.
