Hi. My neurologist told me that seizures are a side effect of having hydrocephalus. I am not sure but I think it has something to do with having a foreign object in your body. Insertion of the shunt disturbs the electricity flow in the brain which causes seizures. I am on tegretol, lamictal and clonazepam. I do not have a choice due to the severity of the seizures I get. It has been a period since I have had one but...the side effects from the meds ar.e fierce.

I wish they could invent a med that could take care of the seizures and eliminate the sedative effect.
