The bumps being less severe is a very good sign - I am really glad to hear that!

Common sense is good, but I do still think it is important to report this event to your doctor. You can tell him the rash seems better, but by involving him you give him a chance to guide you. Then, he can make the call as to whether someone needs to see this rash... before the "evidence" disappears.
