What I'm getting at is that small fiber nerve problems don't produce motor symptoms, as the small fibers underlie certain sensory (pain, temperature) and autonomic processes. No one is exempt from having problems with BOTH small, unmyelinated and larger, myelinated fibers, though, and mixed types of neuropathy are quite common.
