Smile Changing course... so to speak

I have chosen, for the moment, to look for work rather than plunk down lots of money for a stressy certification course. If I have trouble finding work for the fall due to lmy ack of certification, I shall apply for the certification course that starts in January - it is the part-time version (Saturdays only).

I have just sent out a resume - to one school only.

It is a highly reputable school that operates at an international level. They seek to employ people for teaching positions who 1. enjoy the language, 2. enjoy teaching, and 3. are native speakers or have native-level proficiency. In a separate note they mention they are always on the lookout for native speakers... this suggests to me this is a highly valued attribute. This sets them apart from those schools which require certification, many of which specify that they do not require native proficiency. I have no cert and little experience, but I am a native speaker, so this should be a good fit for me. I must say, I have high hopes they will respond.

This school operates at an international level. They have their own standard method, which might be why they don't care about certification. I'm guessing they give all teachers a short training course in their method before sticking them in the classroom. In any case, the syllabuses and materials have all been established, so one has a preset structure to follow. This alone is huge for me.

I have a high preference for this establishment, so I am going to give these people a couple of weeks to reply, before I send out other resumes. If they don't reply, I will proceed to look for and apply to all other schools that are well established as language-teaching institutions. (Yes, I am going to be somewhat picky.)

Trust me to do this when I am doped up on gabapentin and painkillers. I didn't write the resume just now though. I had it drawn up already and customized it recently. Just now all I did was make final tweaks and send it.

Well, there you go!
