Hello all,

I've read around a number of posts but can't find anyone with exactly what I am going through. I understand this is obviously different for everyone because of how the brain functions, but I thought one of you might see my post and provide a bit of insight into my situation. I'm a 20-year old undergraduate male studying environmental science and economics.

3.5 weeks ago I suffered a concussion. I was skiing at night and hit my head. I did not black out, was not wearing a helmet, and continued to socialize that night, experiencing a bit of dizziness and headache. The following week I felt a bit off, and the following weekend I really started to feel lousy. Headache when I tried to do things, an uneasy feeling in my head that I was off-in a mild brain fog.

The symptoms peaked at the 2 week mark. I wasn't particularly dizzy in the clinical sense but rather felt like I was living in a fog of sorts. Everything felt strange, like a hangover and that I was tired. I was sleeping well, and resting although I was spending a decent amount of time watching things on my computer (the only activity that kept my not worrying about my symptoms).

I have taken time off school now and am home. I feel pretty unable to do anything-I cannot go outside, have avoided the computer/tv, reading hurts my brain, and any activity outdoors I wish to do is simply impossible-it would bring too much of a headache and exacerbate my 'feeling out of it'.

The feeling out of it is difficult to describe-it's a dizziness combined with a fatigued/hungover feeling which is ONLY better if my head is not moving and I am resting. Even then I experience a slight terrible feeling in my head.

Sleeping is important, I know this, and I was sleeping okay for the first 2 weeks. Recently, I have been sleeping poorly waking up 4-5 times a night with bad dreams.

Does anyone have any feedback or a similar situation? This is a first-time concussion and the dread of waking up every day and having to make it to bedtime to not even sleep well is wearing on me.

Thanks to all of you, much appreciated.
