Just pls don't torture yourself unnecessarily. Having uncontrolled severe pain is very detrimental to health as well.
Low doses, used in moderation are not usually a problem.
The only side effects from narcotics are some constipation and ...euphoria!! Lol
Can be habit forming. Better than blinding pain if ya ask me
