--is more likely to suggest something of central nervous system origin, as problems merely with the peripheral nerves would not result in that.

Is that symptom frequent/constant/severe, or is it more what would be termed like a "senior moment"? Many of us have trouble getting out the proper words or remembering them in stressful situations, especially with advancing age.

The other problem, as you've hinted at, as many neural symptoms for peripheral vs. central system problems (i.e., MS) can be exactly the same. It's why the search for cause is often long, drawn out, and very process of elimination.

Obviously, MRI's of brain and spine should be done, and possibly nerve conduction studies, along, likely, with at least some of the serological tests in the Latov/Quest protocol:
