Adhesions are a fibrous scar tissue. Cheloids are similar and are found on the skin around scars in some people and not others.
I know when I had some minor surgery at a podiatrist's office in July, one of the questions on the history sheet was do you make cheloids commonly with scars.
There are some posts on the Thoracic Outlet forum discussing using pentoxfylline (a drug) to reduce adhesions after TOS surgery.

I wouldn't expect doctors to know this however. And I doubt diet can help.
