This sounds interesting. It appears to be a surgical version of Botox treatments to the spasming muscles. It would not likely be appropriate for vaso spasms or the other inflammations caused by cervical trauma that is unresolved.

I am leery of the doctor's comment about athletes returning to play as soon as the surgery heals. He is obviously not familiar with the risk from repeat concussions. Will the nerve exposed by the release surgery be at risk of future trauma ?

I have had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome since the early 90's. I researched carpal tunnel surgery and chose to avoid it and use behavior modification and nutritional supplementation. When I was finally seen by a neuro after 6 weeks of stark improvement, the doc was impressed and was willing to hold off on his recommendation of immediate surgery to see if my improvement continued. Anti-inflammatory meds, nerve nutrition, and behavior mods have saved me from the risks of surgery.

As good as this head ache surgery sounds, I would still consider it a last resort. The risks of surgery are just too great to take this surgery as a quick fix without risk.

btw, I finally have access to the internet again. Two months of pestering the phone company and broadband is up and running, even if it is at 1/3rd the speed of my prior connection.
