I've actually only seen tiny bits of Season 1 and probably more than half of Season 2. There haven't been reruns so I don't have a strong recollection of it, other than for basic plot status for the various goings on, and some of the characters.

Maggie Smith made an impression on me. And I agree that she needs no words to act... her poise and facial expressions are so evocative.

I remember some of the quotes you gave. The defeatist one is great! It sounds familiar but I'm not actually sure I saw that episode. The thing is, I can just hear her saying that. LOL.
