Default Results from vascular surgeon appointment

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for your support.
So I went to see Dr Michael Neale in Sydney Australia. He was really lovely. Answered all my questions. I have just one more ultra sound to go. This will see if my arteries and veins are thickening in the area. If there is no evidence of this, he says there is no reason he would recommend surgery, only if my symptoms become unmanageable.

The kicker is, I can cope now. But we are thinking about having kids and I already struggle with an afternoon holding and cuddling friends babies. Let alone the day to day cooking, cleaning, lifting that needs to happen everyday. My husband is very anti the operation, and thinks we can modify our life as we have done already and just continue this with a baby. I am not so sure. I really want to have kids but, I have a very strong feeling that i woudlnt cope adding another person and their needs to the mix. I should add to this that my husband has been great, he does so many extra household duties, but washing up will sit their for days sometimes, and I find it really hard not being able to just chip in when needed.

The Dr thinks that if I decide to have the operation going via the underarm there will be no problems, he is aware and talked to me of the risks, but he thinks with PT I should be fine, and return to normal duties within 6 weeks as we are simply removing the hardware(extra rib). My worry is that it will seriously throw my bodies balance out, as my neck is all skewed from the ribs being there at all. Will that ever change, how does taking a rib out help with a body that has learned to be this way for 32 yrs?

So any thoughts?

Thanks again,
Anna
