Confused Hi, New Here...

I'm looking for support, understanding, information. The doctor hasn't said the "P" word yet but I'm worried about my husband. From what I've read they say Parkinsons isn't always heredity but of course it can be. My husband is 57, his Dad developed noticeable symptoms around his 60's, maybe before.

My husband has always been one of those kind of people who say " Exercise? For fun? You're joking right?". He has orthopedic issues that need surgical correction. He has also developed a tremor in his hand. He continues to be on his feet for work. At home though...I can see just walking through the supermarket is tough for him. It makes me sad the difference in a year.

Before last year he would walk the dog with me some nights. Our girl is a gazelle on leash so walking her is a workout. But then he could do it. Since then we also adopted a boy dog who is much more easygoing...he can run but mostly he lumbers...I thought for sure he would be a good walking partner for hubby...unfortunately my husband has walked the dogs with me once in a year.

After the surgical correction I'm praying he'll have the gumption to realize that ANY exercise will help him stay mobile. I'm just so afraid. His Dad lived with Parkinsons for many years and stayed rather functional, not great but he could use a walker, dress, feed himself. My aunt on the other hand was diagnosed with Parkinsons and has declined to helpless in about two years.

We have a grown son at home who can do heavy stuff around the house and the dogs are my babies. We're coping, but I'm still scared.
