Wow Mari, yes in the early 1970's and while the kids were growing up. I went with something not drastic, few inches off the back and angled layers in the front to my chin down.

I didn't really agree with the method she used, holding the hair out at a vertical angle....I bring it forward to the chin on a horizontal angle. It makes layers but doesn't remove as much thickness with fine hair.

Dang, it was $30.00 with the tip for a dry cut. I use to get $3.50 lol. We didn't even blow dry back in the day, it was wash and roller sets.
One day I took the old hair dryer with a hose and blow up cap to work. I used the hose to blow the hair off patrons. I had a great idea when I saw the hair blowing around to dry he hair like that to give it volume. To this day the people say to me how I truly invented blow drying.

OMG, that reminds me when I was working as a patrol officer one of the township supervisors that had his hair cut years before got in the cruiser during the middle of the night, he wanted me to drive up the "towers" to talk....this is a tiny road to the top of he mountain where the TV station towers are on top of the mountain.

I left him know I was not leaving the township, then he told me the "I am your boss" bit. Then he says, "I remember when you use to cut my hair, you were/are so hot.....etc" I knew I was in real trouble.

I told him i had to drop documents off at the next town they were waiting for the warrant , then drove to the next township. I went inside, he followed me. I told the Cpl. And him I had to use the phone.....this is 3:30AM, and called the Chief, no answer....I called the Council president and told him what was up and I wasn't moving until someone took care of it.

They got po'd at me, why didn't I tell him to get out.....I tried, after he got in when I said no, telling them about the inappropriate conversation. In the morning, my Chief yelled at me, that it was our boss. I didn't care who he was, keep him out of my car and stop turning up on my calls.

He had also been showing up on my midnight shift calls. Once was a home invasion I had my weapon drawn and he came around some bushes in the rear yard, i was in pursuit of the guy leaving the residence. No way I should have had to work like that.
Within a few weeks his wife called that he assaulted her and he was forced to resign. A lot of ugly things came out. No one ever said sorry.
Shortly after that my engagement was announced and I was working full time in the borough I became chief of the PD so I left the first PD job.

Wow, I can't believe the things I went through. I could write a book.
