I have had shingles down that nerve many years ago too. And I was having alot of trouble with it in the summer and on vacation.
As luck would have it...I sprained my hand opening a jar...OH, it set off my old carpal tunnel horribly. So I started wearing my wrist splints (which I always keep around for the past 30 yrs, in fact), and wore it every night and also a home when we came back. The hand improved after a week but I kept wearing the brace anyway.
(I had enormous carpal tunnel when I was pregnant 32 yrs ago, and while it resolved mostly, it is still there a little and flares now and then). Well, wearing a splint again, seems to have fixed that arm pain quite nicely! So I am continuing the splinting every night to see what happens. I just bought a new one on Amazon, and found their prices about 1/2 of CVS's ! I have a new Futuro short style.

I find this style more comfortable than previous ones I've had over the years!
So if you have pain over that radial nerve, think about the wrist being a culprit!

Hello mrsD..
Carpel tunnel? I don't think so. I have some minor tendonitis in my left elbow now and did have it in my right elbow but had surgery to repair that about 5 years ago. My right elbow has not bothered me since then. The diagnosis of radial neuropathy came after waking up one morning and I was unable to use my right arm, hand and fingers. I at first thought I might have been having a stroke but the ER doctor said no. After being admitted to the hospital and having numerous tests. (one was where they put electrodes on your arm) they diagnosed it as radial neuropathy. After 3 weeks of physical therapy, I finally regained the use of my hand. I still have terrible problems with numbness and pain in my right hand and arm. I wake up 3 or 4 times a night in pain. My feet only bother me after standing or walking for about 2 hours but the naproxen seems to be helping with that.
They are doing some blood tests as follows:
Metabolic Panel, Comprehensive
Glycated Hemoglobin Test
Syphilis Test Non Treponemal Anitbod (is that what I think it is?)
Complete CBC & Auto Diff WBC
That is all mumbo jumbo to me. I will get the results on Nov 4th
Thanks again for your help.
Oh I guess I should mention that I had MVD surgery in 2011 for Trigeminal Neuralgia which was a life saver. It seems like my whole nervous system is going wacky.
