Confused How do I know if my dentist removed the periodontal ligament with extraction?

4 days ago I had my infected root canal extracted. I was able to watch the procedure through the tv that was supposed to preoccupy me. Prior to procedure I asked if he will remove the periodontal ligament and infected jaw bone and he said yes. After he pulled the tooth out he used some sort of tweezers and was pulling pieces out- I felt the tugs so I know it was stuck to me. He also used some clear solution to spray out the hole. He then filled it with Novabone and stitched it up. I was expecting some sort of scraping to take place. Also, prior to the procedure they told me it would be $250 extra to deal with the infection which I thought was ridiculous. I tried arguing it because isn't that why I'm getting the tooth pulled in the first place?? And they told me they would match the previous dentist's quote which I brought in writing. Also to give a little more history. 4 months ago I had two amalgam fillings replaced by them and he put me on antibiotics when I expressed that I had pain in my root canaled tooth. He said to come back in 6 months. I since moved an hour away. Then recently my tooth was hurting again and I was experiencing chest pain (which I was experiencing chest pain the last time my tooth was hurting) so my dr. put me on antibiotics and I finished that two days before the extraction. They put me on antibiotics again with the extraction. I have been feeling extremely drained since the extraction. Where I have no energy. I kind of feel like I'm getting sick. I stopped taking the ibuprofen but that didn't seem to help. Can this be the antibiotics, combo of all? Or could this be the onset of a cavitation?... thanks in advance!
