You could get a roll of RED duct tape and put pieces of the tape over each on button so that you would have to lift the tape off to turn the item on. The tape could remind you to check that there is no old coffee, no detergent cubes or no extra laundry detergent. You could also try that new detergent ball that's advertised on TV...by that guy that sells the oxygen cleaners. Or you could put a piece of red tape on the detergent box or bottle so you would have to lift it up to dispense the detergent.

While I understand there is a medical reason for your memory problems many of us do things like this too. We all lead such busy lives that it's easy to lose our place often during the day. I keep losing things. Right now we are looking for a small pair of scissors that were in my hubby's room and a small brush that goes to a dustpan that I keep in the bathroom amongst other things.
