I have never had my ears done by doctors. Either a nurse of med tech did it. It helps if they get the water solution to the right temperature to help soften the wax. I have never had any pretreatment prior to the irrigation.

After the first time, I would look forward to getting the wax washed out if my ear became clogged and DIY drops did not resolve it.
