My husband is convinced that even if I say I can't feel the cold it still makes the pain worse in the long run. He is always telling me to put on socks and slippers.

No problem for me cause I'm average height.
As I said, I tried Cuddle Duds but they didn't do any more for me than the Fruit of the Loom nice ones. So that worked out for me. Doesn't matter either as far as socks and slippers as far as the cold. I always wear them. My legs and feet being cold to the touch does not make my pain worse. In fact, I'm just fine in that respect unless I was outside for quite awhile. Standing too much gives me pain or walking too much is where it comes into play. Never used to be like that but that's where it is now. Can't live in the past.
