A real pain in the neck?
Sorry if I'm retreading the same ground here. I was diagnosed with post concussion syndrome a month and a half ago. I'm still experiencing dizziness, brain fog, and visual disturbances.
I'm sure this has been covered before, but is it possible this "head" injury actually stems from a pinched nerve in the neck? Whiplash occurs when the muscles in the neck contract suddenly.
I know that stress exacerbates our symptoms, and for that reason, it seems like rest is the general recommendation. I'm wondering, does stress cause symptoms because it tightens muscles in the neck, putting pressure on these tangled nerves? And maybe recovery entails keeping the muscles in the neck relaxed for long enough that these bundled nerves have the chance to relax and straighten themselves out again?
Here's a whole forum of people who are describing the symptoms I'm having perfectly, and none of them mentions post concussion syndrome.
I can't post links, so you will have to search for the phrase "Head pressure, Spaced out, foggy, dizzy, fatigue, top neck ache" on BetterMedicine
I have an appointment with a massage therapist who specializes in whiplash injuries this afternoon, and I will report back if I get any relief.
