I am female, 44 yrs old, got hit in the temple by a shovel that fell from the shelf. Didn't think much of it but that was 5 months ago and I have had recurring problems. Had a CT and MRI and thankfully they are all clear.

In the beginning I had headaches, nausea, vacant stares where I would space out and be unable to respond to people, became really slow and overwhelmed by thinking, had mood swings where I would be angry one minute, crying the next and normal the next. Had panic attacks and ended up giving up my job cos I wasn't coping physically or emotionally.

Saw two neurologists and they have said that it isn't concussion but that i have a disposition to anxiety and thats whats causing the symptoms. I have improved in alot of ways. I don't have such mood swings or panic attacks so much but I'm still struggling. Still have headaches to different degrees...the pain extends to above and below the eye on the same side as my temple that was hit.

I tried to do some volunteer work but after only 2 hours in the one week ...i was overcome with chronic fatigue and my head hurt. It's hard to describe but sometimes I just "don't feel right". I definitely do not feel the same as I did prior the accident.

Guess I just need some encouragement. Am thinking of seeing a neuropychologist but I'm scared that they are going to say the same thing...that there is nothing wrong with me. feeling alittle down. Particularly since I don't have the support of a specialist. Thanks ...any input would be welcomed!!

Hello there.

Just wanted to extend a warm welcome. Others will come along and give you a bit more input than I can. We have a lot of smart and compassionate people on these forums.

And I feel for you. No one wants a life of pain.

Here's hoping things change for you.

Take care, Melody
