I am having bilateral scalenectomy and first rib resection February 6th and 10th. I will be in the hospital between the surgeries and 3-4 days after the second surgery. Then two days in Denver, then catch a flight home.

In preparation for surgery:

Work on lower abs
Strapless tube top bra
Button up shirt
Bring no/minimal luggage. (Whatever fits in my big purse will be the max)
Shower seat
Dry shampoo/ adult bath wipes
Bottle for water to clean self after using toilet
Sprite, saltines, sherbet, tapioca pudding, ice cream, broth based soups
Care for teenage daughter while gone and some once returned
Fmla for work
Home away from boyfriend who says things like "walk it off"
Personal care provider - hired in home help because I cannot fully depend on my family.
Netflix subscription and chrome cast
Tons of COURAGE!
What am I missing?
Also, if your hair is longer than shoulder length, on day of surgery, put it in a loose ponytail on top of your head, so you can lay on a pillow comfortably. Your hair will be neat and out of the way for all the post-op stuff...did this when my daughter had her aorta repaired.
