I haven't worn them but I know that they make rubbery kind of shoes called crocs. The real ones are like 30 bucks but you can buy some cheaper ones at walmart or something for like 5-10 dollars. They have holes at the top so the air can circulate and they have a back. The part where the foot lays is bumpy I think but you can probably buy those inserts you can put in your shoes so it isn't as rough and irritating.

If not, I was in an ortho boot for awhile. It helped with support and protection and you can adjust it if your foot is more swollen.
