Hello everyone,

I am new to this site. I am a 24 year old female who started experiencing nerve pain in Sept./2013. It started behind my right eye and had taken on the symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia (bilateral and in all branches). Since then it has progressed to my extremities in the form of electric shock-like pain, burning, tingling and shooting pain. Additionally, I have experienced muscle fasciculations and sensitivity to wind, hot/cold, light touch (such as blankets/sheets).

I've had two visits to separate neurologists and my physical examination was normal. I've also had a CT scan (only a few days after experiencing the first symptoms in Sept.) and an MRI on Dec. 30th which I have yet hear about my results. My blood tests have come back normal as well.

I took Tegretol (400mg/day) for the first month and didn't find any relief. Switched to Neurontin (900mg/day) and have been on it for over a month. It doesn't appear to be lessening my symptoms.

I am not sure what to expect from all of this -- I am frightened and feel helpless because I don't know what the diagnosis is.
