Hi,

I have Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia too. My pain is in my teeth, jaw, cheek and ear on the left side. Mine was not caused by dental work but mimics tooth pain for sure and I have had unnecessary dental work trying to get rid of the pain.

livingwithtn.org is a fantastic site and you will find answers there. There are many different medications to try and everyone responds differently. What works for one person does not work for another.

I am on 40 mgs of Amitriptyline and it has worked wonders for me.

There is a topical lidocaine cream or gel. Also a magic mouthwash. Both are covered extensively on that website. You should join and ask away. Some people have creams made--here are the ingredients of one I found listed (ketamine, baclofen, gabapentin, amitryplyline, clonidin and bupivacaine).

Good luck
