It can be difficult to try to interpret "tone" when reading on the internet. Sometimes, it's easy to take offense when none was meant or stated. I don't think you got a lecture, simply a comment trying to clarify your initial statement for future SSDI/SSI applicants. It is important for them to know that a senator or congressman may be able to get the SSA to speed up looking into your claim (and for some that opens up the whole can of worms that that slows down the process even more for others), but that a senator or congressman cannot (legally) influence the outcome of the decision, which your initial statement could be interpreted to mean.

It's such a relief for each of us to know that the issue is settled for us so that we can spend less time worrying and more time trying to figure out how to live with our disabilities. It's a wonderful thing that you didn't have the stress of worrying about it for years, don't feel guilty about that ! You are allowed to feel relieved and happy that the issue is behind you.
