I was disappointed with the casual recommendation about the use of ice. I think she should have stressed how controversial the use of ice is in CRPS patients, that it can cause tissue damage, more nerve damage, and rebound pain. I'm an ice user, it works for me. I'll never know though, if my early excessive use of ice packs when I didn't have other pain management options available, did damage that allowed CRPS to develop from my TOS. I wish she had said something more like, "While a few CRPS patient's find cold therapy effective, it is contraindicated for most CRPS patients because it can cause rebound pain and additional damage. This is important to know because ice packs should not be routinely be used as a part of a PT program or be offered to CRPS patients who might not yet be aware themselves of the damage that cold therapy can do."

I really liked the article. Even though it was designed to educate nurses new to the study of CRPS, I thought it covered most of the points that I want family and friend to know and understand. I appreciate that it was in "layman's terms" and not too technical.

I'll definitely be printing it out and passing it out !
