Loss of zinc and B6 thru the urine is called Pyroluria.

It is sometimes linked with excessive self medication with alcohol.

There is a test for this... and numerous websites. It appears to be more accepted in Europe for some reason.

One of our long term members from BT and NT (jcc) had her daughter tested, which came out high, and the zinc/B6 treatment from a DAN doctor reversed her symptoms. Any self treatment is discouraged, and really should be supervised, as the zinc levels may become too high and copper too low and lead to neuropathies, and other toxicities.
The kryptopyyroles excreted in the urine, complex out B6 and zinc so these nutrients are unavailable to the body.
