It is really hard to not overthink it, grandma.

What got me through was believing that eventually the SSA would understand the reality of my situation, because I would keep trying til I got the approval. If the documentation wasn't specific enough yet, we'd get there eventually. I had no control over the speed with which the SSA moved or a decision that didn't make sense. I figured when I got to the point that I was in a nursing home/skilled nursing facility under Medicaid, after losing everything, then the nursing home would be after them so that they could get more money from Medicare. That "cheery" thought, that eventually they'd HAVE to recognize that I'm disabled, but WHEN was beyond my control freed me from worrying about the "when" and let me focus more on getting help managing my medical care and making plans for trying to stretch my assets in the meantime.
