I used to enjoy a glass of wine before the head injury and now, when I try to have 2 or 3 ounces, it feels like rust scraping through the arteries in my head. Someday I'd like to enjoy it again but it sure isn't now. I think it does more harm than good. Unfortunately early on, the doctors told me to 'drink' to relax, 'go ahead, have some wine', back when they thought it was all in my head. Now it's 'woops, she really had a severe impact concussion' even though I stayed conscious. So now, there is no more 'go drink' talk, and even the suggested drugs have changed - '... no, don't take that one now! try this' and such. So be careful how much you listen to your doctor. I hate to say that but we need more attention to these symptoms so the medical field doesn't throw out careless advice before understanding what is happening to people.
