There can be some different causes for swelling (edema). those causes can include:
- Too much salt/sodium in your diet
- Inactivity -- it's important to exercise even moderately
- Weight gain
- Not drinking enough water. Average amount is 64 oz but some people require more water to keep edema from happening. (I drink between 80 & 100oz of water a day).
- Some medications can cause edema
- other health conditions such as pulmonary problems as well as others
