My neurologist said that with Levetiracetam it might take a year or two before getting a normal result in EEG. the other neurologist said that I can take depakote for 6 months and it will also cure the epileptogenic discharges in my brain. I was just recently diagnosed of complex partial seizure. I just dont know which medication is more effective in curing my condition.
Most AEDs work for complex partials, but each person responds differently and each has different patient considerations so no one can be certain how you will respond, but keppra is a common first drug to try (always read up on side effects). I would not phrase it in terms of 'curing' epilepsy, more like controlling. Partial seizures have a fair chance of being drug resistant.
