The first few weeks after surgery were the hardest for me. It's been three weeks today since mine. I went through what you're going through Jesika. But when before I have any surgeries I see my pm dr to get approval to get extra pain meds that my surgeon prescribes for the extra pain I feel after the surgery. From past experience of the last three surgeries I've had, I take an extra two pain pills a day for about two weeks then I wean back to four a day as prescribed by my pm dr. Some surgeons don't realize that people with rsd have more pain from surgery then people without. At least that's how it is in my case. So before I have any surgery, I let the surgeon know that I will need extra pain meds for a few weeks. (I make sure to get permission from my pm dr first though). Maybe you should ask your pm dr and then your surgeon if they can do this for you. It makes healing alot easier. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. My gp dr told me today after I showed him the picture of my gallbladder filled with stones that it would take me months to recover because of all the stones I had. He said that may be why I feel nauseas still and have heartburn still and pain. But I also told him that it is because it is aggravating my rsd too. Anyway, I'm finally having less heartburn and nausea (at least for the past three days) and am back to four pain pills a day so hang in there Jesika. I don't handle morphine well and asked not to have any after my surgery. Percocet works better for me.
You just have to make sure you wean off of the extra amount you're taking in a few weeks time so that you don't get dependent on it. I hope that maybe your dr can help you with the pain. My pm dr said that if you don't have the pain under control, the rsd gets aggravated and that's not good. So maybe tell your surgeon that but make sure you get permission from your pm dr first. I will pray that you feel better soon. With love, Renee.
