It's your home and your life, so I wouldn't feel bad about the dogs.
We have had people come to our home that do not like animals. My DH says, " our dogs are part of the family, if you don't like them, then don't visit!"
My dog, a toy poodle licks the plates and anything else she can reach when the dishwasher is open. (no pre-rinse needed)
