I've seen news reports over the years about birds in the Northern Territory (Au) actually falling from the sky.

It can get a bit sad really as it appears that although some recover quickly when cared for with food and water, others tend to stay ill for weeks. I got the impression that the vets weren't sure if it was from the poisoning or from a virus or a combination of both.

I grew up in the Tropics and I remember even as a young child hearing about the birds getting intoxicated from the Umbrella Tree seeds. I also recall (unfortunately) hearing about the relocation of Pigeons that had become pests in the town.
