I'm really sorry you had that experience!
When doctors give a "caine" drug without the epinephrine in it, they often inject way more than they should. Those drugs are not as effective for reducing pain.
The epi keeps the drug working longer.
In the long run, it might be better to have something like Xylocaine, which might be better tolerated. I do just fine on that one, but everyone is different.
If you want the nerves to recover more quickly, try drinking something with caffeine in it and taking some methylcobalamin (recovers the peripheral nerves more quickly).
