Hi Sandy,
Welcome to NT. Congrats on the lifestyle changes and the positive steps you are taking to improve your health. You might want to post on the diabetes forum and the PN forum, too.
How long has it been since you were first diagnosed with diabetes and what measures beyond lifestyle changes are you taking now to help control it?
I am not prying and please do not feel obligated to respond but knowing a little more of the details may help others to help you. Being a diabetic myself, I know how difficult it can be to manage diabetes at times. Some things are within our control and other things are not. Pain will elevate blood sugar levels just like it will elevate blood pressure. Do not beat yourself up about choices of the past when you neglected yourself while busy taking care of others. What is important is how you take care of yourself now to make the best of the hand you have been dealt. No one chooses their disease or ailment. We are here to help in any way we can and be supportive of you and the road you travel. You seem to be big hearted and self-sacrificing but it is time to devote some of those wonderful traits and direct them to yourself. Be kind to yourself.
We will be here for you and hope that you will find the support and information you desire.
